Orange Candy Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. margarine
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. baking soda
    4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
    1 lb. oranges slices, cut in small pieces
    2 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. unsifted confectioners sugar
    1 c. flaked coconut (optional)
    4 eggs
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 (14 oz.) box chopped dates
    1 c. orange juice
Preparation
    Cream the butter and sugar.
    Add eggs one at a time; cream well after each.
    Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
    Add alternately to creamed mixture with 3 1/2 cups of flour.
    Mix remaining flour with dates, candy and nuts.
    Add to batter.
    Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
    Bake at 250\u00b0 for 3 hours.
