Pennsylvania Red Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 Tbsp. bacon drippings or other oil
4 c. shredded red cabbage
2 c. cubed, unpeeled apple
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 tsp. salt
caraway seed (optional)
dash of pepper
Preparation

Heat oil in skillet; add remaining ingredients and 1/4 cup of water.
Cook, covered, over low heat.
Stir occasionally.
Cook to desired crispness, 15 minutes or, for more tender cabbage, 25 to 30 minutes.
Makes 4 to 5 servings.
Colorful side dish with pork.
