Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 egg
    1 c. molasses
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream the sugar and butter. Add egg and stir well. Add molasses, stirring until well mixed.
    Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. Beat until smooth.
    The batter is soft but makes a fine cake.
    Bake in shallow
    greased pan. Bake for 35 minutes in a 325\u00b0 to 350\u00b0 oven.
