Old Fashioned Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. cream
    1 3/4 c. white syrup
    1 c. butter
    1 c. chopped nuts
    sprinkle of salt
Preparation
    Boil all together, except nuts and 1 cup cream, over low heat, for 30 minutes.
    Add 2nd cup of cream and boil to firm ball stage (248\u00b0).
    Add nuts and pour, without stirring, into well-buttered pan.
    When cold, cut into 1-inch squares.
