1 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 lb. frankfurters
vegetable oil

Preparation
-
Combine first 5 ingredients; stir in bacon drippings.
Combine eggs, buttermilk, and soda, mix well.
Stir into flour mixture, mixing well.
Cut each frankfurter into 10 pieces.
Dip each piece into the batter covering completely (wooden picks work well for dipping).
Drop into 3 or 4-inch deep hot oil and cook until golden, turning once.
Drain on paper towels.
Insert party pick and serve immediately with mustard, catsup or picante sauce. Makes about 10 servings.
To make corn dogs leave frankfurters whole and insert wooden skewers.
