Date Nut Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/3 c. white Karo
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. chopped dates
    3/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Mix sugar, Karo and milk in saucepan.
    Cook until mixture turns slightly brown and forms a soft but firm ball when tested in cup of cold water.
    Remove from heat.
    Add butter and vanilla. Beat until mixture cools and begins to thicken slightly.
    Add the dates and nuts.
    Roll out on wax paper, forming a long roll.
    Roll in a small amount of powdered sugar.
    Place in refrigerator until solid, then slice in thin slices.
