Jean Terry'S Batter For Onion Rings, Eggplant Or Squash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. melted shortening
    2/3 c. water
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Beat egg.
    Add shortening, water and lemon juice.
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and add.
    This batter will thicken in just a few minutes.
    Slice your onions; dip in batter. Fry in hot, deep fat.
