Wild Rice Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. rice
    3 c. boiling water
    1 1/2 cans mushroom soup
    2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
    1/2 c. sour cream
    1 can asparagus (drained)
    1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    6 strips bacon, chopped and browned
Preparation
    Wash 1 cup wild rice thoroughly and place in a large heavy saucepan filled with 3 cups boiling water and salted to taste. Reduce heat to simmer, cover and cook rice 50 to 60 minutes or until rice kernels puff open. Uncover and fluff rice with a table fork.
    Simmer an additional 5 minutes.
    Drain off any excess liquid and proceed with recipe.
