Chocolate-Berry Layer Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 eggs
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 c. vegetable oil
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. strawberry preserves or jam
1 pint strawberries, halved
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans. Beat eggs and sugar in a medium bowl until thick and light colored. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add oil, buttermilk and vanilla to flour mixture, blend well. Fold in egg mixture. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 30 minutes. Cool in pans on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on racks. Spread preserves onto bottom layer, add top layer. Frost top with chocolate frosting.
