Minehaha Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter, softened
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs, separated
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    pinch of salt
    1 c. milk
    1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
Preparation
    Cream butter, gradually adding sugar.
    Beat well.
    Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
    Mix well after each addition, stir in flavoring.
    Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until stiff peaks form.
    Fold into batter.
    Spoon batter into 2 greased and floured 8-inch pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Cool in pans 10 minutes.
    Remove from pans and cool completely.
    Frost.
