Banana Cake - cooking recipe

2 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. shortening
1 2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/4 c. mashed ripe bananas
2/3 c. buttermilk, divided
2/3 c. chopped walnuts

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Grease and flour two 9-inch round pans. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and soda; set aside.
Beat together shortening and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
Blend in bananas.
Add flour mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
Stir in walnuts.
Pour into pans.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes.
Loosen edges and remove from pans; cool completely. Fill and frost with frosting.
