Rich Cream Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. butter
    1/2 c. cream
    1 egg, well beaten
    1/4 c. currants
Preparation
    Combine flour, salt, baking powder and sugar in a bowl.
    Cut in the butter with a pastry blender, or rub in with fingertips. Mix in egg and cream with a fork.
    Stir in currants.
    Turn dough out on a lightly floured board and pat out in a circle about 1/2-inch thick.
    Cut in wedges.
    Brush tops with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 15 to 18 minutes.
    Makes 12.
