Minestrone - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. onion, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    3 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 c. chickpeas or beans
    1/4 c. celery, chopped
    1 1/2 c. zucchini, diced
    1 c. potatoes, diced
    1 1/2 c. cabbage, coarsely chopped
    1 can ripe tomatoes
    8 c. boiling water
    2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1 tsp. parsley
    1 c. cooked, drained macaroni
Preparation
    Saute onion and garlic in oil.
    Combine remaining ingredients, except macaroni.
    Cook until vegetables are tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
    Add macaroni.
    Serve hot.
    Serves 6 to 8.
