Purple Plum Cake Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (29 oz.) can purple plums
    2 c. flour
    3/4 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. baking powder
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. butter or oleo
    1 c. milk
    1 egg, beaten
    whipping cream (optional)
    2/3 c. sugar
Preparation
    Drain plums; save syrup.
    Pit plums and arrange, skin side down, in a 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
    Mix 3/4 cup sugar and cornstarch in a pan; add reserved syrup.
    Cook, stirring, until thickened.
    Pour over plums.
    Cream the oleo.
    Add 2/3 cup sugar; beat until light.
    Add egg, beaten well.
    Mix dry ingredients together; add alternately with milk to first mixture, beating until smooth.
    Spread over plums and bake at 375\u00b0 for about 30 minutes.
    Serve warm with whipped cream.
