Hash Brown Potato Casserole - cooking recipe

1 (32 oz.) pkg. frozen hash browns (string kind works best)
1 stick margarine
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 large carton sour cream
1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
1 tsp. pepper (or to taste)
1/2 chopped onion
2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation

Thaw potatoes. Add to potatoes: salt, pepper, onion, cheese. Melt margarine and mix well with can of soup and sour cream. Pour margarine, soup, sour cream mixture over potato mixture and fold in until mixed. Pour into greased 9 x 13 casserole dish. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour, covered for the first 25 minutes, uncovered for the last 35 minutes. You may broil on high for and additional 5 minutes to brown the top.
