Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. milk
    1/3 c. packed brown sugar
    1 c. quick cooking rolled oats
    1/4 c. chopped walnuts
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Stir together dry ingredients.
    In mixing bowl, beat shortening and butter for 30 seconds; add sugars and beat until fluffy.
    Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well.
    Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating until well combined.
    Stir in oats and walnuts.
    Chill dough 2 hours.
    Form 1-inch balls. Dip tops of balls in additional sugar if desired.
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
