Mexican Red Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dried red beans (pink or kidney beans), soaked overnight
    4 c. cold water
    1 large onion, coarsely chopped
    1 lb. can tomatoes
    2 garlic cloves, minced
    1 tsp. crushed red pepper or 2 tsp. chili powder
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 lb. salt pork or bacon, chopped
Preparation
    Put soaked and drained beans into crock-pot.
    Add water and all remaining ingredients.
    Cover and cook on High for 2 hours, then turn down to low for 8 hours.
