Ingredients

1 lb. sweet or hot Italian sausage (5 links)
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. finely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. dried basil leaves
1 (15 oz.) container cottage cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. fennel seed
1/4 c. dried parsley
4 c. canned tomatoes, undrained
2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
1/2 tsp. salt
12 curly lasagna noodles
1 egg (hard-boiled)
3/4 c. Mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
1 (3 oz.) jar Parmesan cheese
Preparation

Peel sausage and cut up into large saucepan.
Brown sausage and beef together; add onion and garlic.
Stir until well browned. Add sugar, salt, basil, fennel seed, pepper and half of parsley. Mix and add tomatoes, tomato paste (mash up) and 1/2 cup water. Bring to boil and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring a bit.
