Poverty Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening
2 c. hot water
1 pkg. raisins
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. allspice
little salt
1 tsp. cassia (cinnamon)
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. flour

Preparation

Cook the first 4 ingredients.
Cool and add the remaining ingredients.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes or until done.
