Divinity With A Dixieland Beat - cooking recipe

2 1/2 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. white corn syrup
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation

In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and water. Cook syrup slowly, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until sugar dissolves and syrup reaches boiling stage.
Place candy thermometer in saucepan.
Boil syrup, without stirring, over medium heat until thermometer registers 256\u00b0.
Remove from heat. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Pour hot syrup slowly into egg whites, beating constantly.
Continue to beat mixture until it holds shape and loses gloss.
Stir in vanilla and pecans. Drop onto wax paper with a tablespoon.
