Harvard Beets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1/4 c. beet liquid from can
    1/3 c. brown sugar
    1/4 c. vinegar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    few grains pepper
    1/8 tsp. cloves
    1 (No. 2) can (2 1/2 c.) sliced beets
Preparation
    Melt butter and add flour.
    Blend.
    Add beet liquid.
    Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
    Add brown sugar, vinegar, salt, pepper and cloves.
    Stir until sugar dissolves.
    Drain beets and add.
    Heat thoroughly.
    Serves 6.
