Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

5 qt. thinly sliced, unpeeled cucumbers
6 medium white onions, sliced thin
1 green pepper, cut into strips
1 sweet red pepper, cut in strips
1/3 c. coarse salt
5 c. sugar
3 c. white vinegar
3 Tbsp. mustard seed
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation

Combine vegetables and salt.
Cover with ice and mix thoroughly.
Let stand 3 hours; drain well.
Combine remaining ingredients.
Mix well and pour over the vegetables.
Bring to a good boil only.
Seal at once in hot sterilized jars.
Makes 8 quarts.
Chill before serving.
