Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. butter
4 eggs
4 c. self-rising flour
2 c. blackberry jam
1 c. raisins
1 c. walnuts or pecans
1 c. peach preserves
1 c. strawberry preserves
1 small can crushed pineapple
1 c. applesauce
2 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
Preparation

Mix soda in buttermilk.
Mix sugar, melted butter and eggs. (Set aside 1 1/2 cups flour to flour nuts and raisins.)
Mix the remaining 2 1/2 cups of flour and spices.
Add to sugar and egg mixture, alternating with soda and buttermilk mixture.
Add preserves, applesauce and pineapple.
Fold in floured fruit and nuts.
(Take out 3 cups batter to put in icing.)
