Mulled Wine - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. water
    2 c. sugar
    1 orange, sliced
    1 lemon, sliced
    2 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
    12 whole cloves
    12 allspice berries
    2 bottles (750-milliliter) dry red wine
Preparation
    Combine first 7 ingredients in a Dutch oven over medium heat; bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.
    Add wine; simmer 10 minutes.
    Pour mixture through a wire-mesh strainer into a container; discard solids.
    Makes 10 servings.
