Pineapple Upside-Down Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    4 slices pineapple (1 small flat can)
    1 (8 oz.) maraschino cherries
    1/3 c. shortening (Crisco)
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla (pure)
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. pineapple juice (add water to make enough if needed)
Preparation
    Melt butter in Corning Ware dish.
    Sprinkle with brown sugar. Arrange pineapple slices over sugar. Garnish with cherries.
    Set aside.
