Ingredients

3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
3 c. butter or margarine
6 c. oatmeal (quick cooking, but not instant)
Preparation

Mix in a large bowl in order given.
Mash, knead, squeeze and abuse dough with bare hands.
Form in small balls on ungreased cookie sheet.
Butter bottom of small glass and dip into regular sugar, then mash balls flat.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool a little on cookie sheet before removing. Put on waxed paper until completely cooled and crisp.
Makes 14 dozen.
