Mom'S White Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
5 rounded tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
3/4 c. shortening
additional 1/4 c. water
additional 1/4 c. milk
7 egg whites (8 if eggs are small)
Preparation

Mix first 4 ingredients together.
Add next 5 ingredients. Beat for one minute, then add additional 1/4 cup of water and additional 1/4 cup milk.
Beat for one half a minute.
Add egg whites, one at a time, beating after each addition.
Continue to beat for 1 1/2 minutes.
Bake in 2 greased, waxed paper lined, floured 9-inch square cake pans or a 9 x 13-inch cake pan in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 30 minutes.
