Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. split green peas, rinsed and drained
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    3 Tbsp. butter
    2 celery stalks, chopped
    1 large onion
    2 carrots, chopped
    1 meaty ham bone
Preparation
    Bring water to a boil.
    Add peas, salt, pepper, butter, celery, onion, carrots and ham bone.
    Cover; cook slowly for 2 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
    Serves 6.
