Halibut Au Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. halibut
    4 slices onion
    2 bay leaves
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. flour
    2 c. milk
    1/2 lb. grated sharp cheese
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. white pepper
    1/2 c. bread crumbs
Preparation
    Top halibut with onion and bay leaves; steam 30 minutes.
    Melt butter and add milk and flour.
    Stir and cook until smooth and thick.
    Add cheese and stir until melted.
    Add salt and pepper. Butter a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
    Break halibut into serving size pieces.
    Discard bay leaves and put halibut into casserole.
    Top with cheese, sauce and bread crumbs.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
