Ingredients

1 c. sugar
4 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. water
1 c. mashed strawberries
3 c. whole strawberries (reserve some perfect ones for garnish, if desired)
1 baked 9-inch pie shell
Preparation

Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt and gradually add the water while stirring.
Cook until thick and clear.
Add mashed berries (add a little red food coloring, if desired).
About an hour before serving time, arrange whole berries in pie shell.
Pour strawberry glaze over top.
Chill thoroughly.
Before serving, top with sweetened whipped cream and garnish with the whole berries. (Whipped topping may be used instead of whipped cream.)
