Peanut Patties - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    3 c. raw peanuts
    1 c. Karo
    1 stick margarine
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    dash of salt
    3 to 4 drops red food coloring
Preparation
    Combine sugar, water, Karo and peanuts in heavy 3-quart saucepan.
    Bring to boil (when the boil begins to boil in middle of pan, begin timing), stirring constantly for exactly 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add margarine, vanilla, salt and coloring.
    Cool slightly (under fan about 5 minutes).
    Beat by hand until creamy and unglossy.
    Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased foil (which has been laid over newspaper for heat protection).
    Cook on medium-high.
