Swedish Rye Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. water
    1 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 c. sorghum or molasses
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    2 1/2 c. rye flour
    3 to 4 c. white flour
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water with tiny bit of sugar. Scald milk and water.
    Add shortening and other ingredients.
    When cool, add part of flour also yeast.
    Let raise an hour or less which makes a light sponge, then add your salt (1 teaspoon) and the rest of flour.
    Work it stiff and let raise for 2 hours or less.
    Make into loaves.
    This makes 3 medium size loaves.
