Shrimp Creole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. cooked shrimp (whole or cut in pieces)
    1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
    1 green pepper, finely chopped
    1/2 c. celery, diced
    2 bay leaves
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. flour
    3 c. canned tomatoes, chopped
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
    2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/2 tsp. lemon pepper
    3 c. cooked rice
Preparation
    Saute onion, green pepper, celery and the bay leaves in butter for 10 minutes, being careful not to burn them.
    Add flour; stir until fully blended, 3 minutes.
    Add tomatoes, salt, sugar, garlic powder, cayenne and lemon pepper.
    Simmer gently for 15 minutes. Add shrimp; continue to simmer until shrimp are thoroughly heated. Serve on a bed of hot rice.
    Makes 6 servings.
