Black Forest Brownie Torte - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 (19.8 oz.) pkg. brownie mix plus ingredients to prepare cake-like version of mix
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 (21 oz.) can Comstock or Wilderness more fruit cherry pie filling, divided
1/4 c. sliced almonds, toasted

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions for cake-like version. Stir chocolate chips into batter. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans. Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pans. Loosen edges; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely.
