Carrot Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. grated carrots
    1 c. grated potatoes
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    2 c. raisins
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. baking soda
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. melted shortening
    1 c. nuts
    1/2 c. candied fruit (optional)
Preparation
    Sift
    dry ingredients, except sugar.
    Add raisins, nuts and fruit.
    Combine
    sugar,
    carrots, potatoes and shortening with the
    dry
    mixture;\tmix
    thoroughly.
    Pour\tinto 1-pound well-greased coffee cans 3/4 full.\tSteam for 2 1/2 hours.
