Lord Baltimore Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter, softened
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    8 egg yolks
    2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. lemon extract
    Lord Baltimore Filling
Preparation
    Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
    Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.
    Add to creamed mixture and beat until very smooth, almost waxy in appearance. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
    Stir in lemon extract.
    Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
    Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans and cool completely.
    Spread Lord Baltimore Filling between layers and on top of cake.
    Yield:
    One 3 layer cake.
