Hilda'S Breakfast Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    2 whole cloves
    1 stick cinnamon
    1/2 lemon peel, grated
    6 medium cooking apples
Preparation
    Combine sugar, water, cloves, cinnamon and lemon peel.
    Pare apples; core and cut in eighths.
    Add to syrup and cook slowly 5 to 8 minutes or until apples are almost tender.
    Remove cloves and cinnamon stick and serve warm.
