Hopping John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 strips bacon
    1/4 c. onion, chopped
    2 c. black-eyed peas (fresh or frozen)
    1/2 c. raw rice
    2 c. boiling water
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Dice the bacon and fry with the chopped onion.
    Add to the peas, rice and water.
    Cover and cook at low heat until the peas and rice are done.
    Add seasoning.
