Ingredients

1 large onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped with leaves
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. uncooked lentils
1 tsp. curry powder (more or less to taste)
1 carrot, chopped
1 apple, chopped
dash of anise seed
3 c. water
4 c. cooked rice
Preparation

Combine first 10 ingredients and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and cook until done, about 60 minutes.
Serve over generous portions of steamed rice.
Serves 4.
