Hard Rock Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1 c. light Karo syrup
    1 bottle Lorrain oil (found in drugstores)
    food coloring
Preparation
    In a medium size saucepan, mix together sugar, water and Karo syrup.
    Put over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a full rolling boil.
    Put in candy thermometer.
    Let boil; do not stir until it reaches hard crack.
    Remove from heat.
    Add flavored oil; add drops of food coloring to make color.
    Stir and pour into a buttered cookie sheet.
    Let set until hard, then crack with a hammer.
    Can coat with powdered sugar, if desired.
