Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. dates, chopped
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 tsp. soda
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 beaten eggs
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 lb. walnuts
Preparation

Combine first 3 ingredients; let this mixture cool.
Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs.
Combine flour, baking powder, vanilla and walnuts.
Add date mixture alternately with flour mixture.
Pour into loaf pan and bake for 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
