Peanut Patties - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. white Karo
    1 c. milk
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. raw peanuts
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients and cook slowly until mixture reaches softball stage on candy thermometer.
    Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon red food coloring and 1 cup powdered sugar.
    Stir until mixture begins to thicken.
    Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
    Leave room as patties will spread out.
