Spiced Pear Jam - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. chopped or coarsely ground peeled pears (about 5 1/2 lb.)
    4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in a large kettle.
    Simmer, uncovered, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until thick, stirring occasionally.
    Stir more frequently as mixture thickens.
    Remove from the heat; skim off foam.
    Pour hot into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Adjust caps.
    Process for 10 minutes in a boiling water bath. Yields 6 half pints.
