Hot German Rice Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. uncooked rice (not instant)
    8 slices bacon, cut up
    1/3 c. sugar
    1/3 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. water
    1 Tbsp. cooked onion
    2 Tbsp. green pepper
    2 Tbsp. pimento (optional for color)
    1 hard-boiled egg
Preparation
    Cook rice, following usual directions.
    Fry bacon; drain.
    Mix 1/4 cup bacon drippings with sugar, vinegar, water, onion and pepper; heat thoroughly.
    Mix with rice, pimento and egg.
    Toss with bacon, also.
    Salt and pepper to taste.
    Serve warm.
    Feeds 4 as side dish.
