Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 lb. cucumbers
    2 c. salt
    8 c. vinegar
    2 c. lime
    2 oz. alum
    16 c. sugar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1/4 box mixed pickling spices
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers and soak overnight in lime water.
    Wash and soak in salt water 4 hours, then wash and soak in clean water for 2 hours.
    Drain and place in alum water and bring to a boil.
    Dip in clear water again, then mix other ingredients and add to cucumbers.
    Let simmer for 30 minutes and then place in jars and seal.
