Heavenly Egg Nog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 eggs
    1 qt. milk or light cream (half and half)
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 to 1 c. rum, peach brandy or bourbon whiskey (if desired)
    1 c. heavy whipping cream
    nutmeg
Preparation
    Separate the eggs; reserve the whites in a separate bowl. Beat together the 6 egg yolks, milk or light cream, sugar and salt.
    Stir in vanilla and, if desired, rum, peach brandy or bourbon whiskey.
    Chill this mixture for 3 to 4 hours to allow flavors to mellow and blend.
    Then with an electric mixer, whip the reserved egg whites until stiff but not dry.
