Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. almond extract
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa
Preparation

Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
In large bowl, mix all ingredients except flour and cocoa.
Beat at medium speed for about 3 minutes.
Shape rounded teaspoonfuls and flatten with a fork or bottom of a glass. Place 1-inch apart on cookie sheet.
Bake 7 to 9 minutes.
Allow to cool. Decorate with melted chocolate chips, nuts or colored sugars or maraschino cherries.
Yields 3 dozen.
