Grandma Dot'S 14 Day Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 gal. pickles
1 pt. salt
1 gal. boiling water
alum
4 1/2 qt. sugar
1/2 box mixed pickling spice
2 qt. vinegar
Preparation

Wash and cut crosswise 2 gallon pickles.
Put in a crock.
Pour over them 1 pint salt and 1 gallon boiling water.
Let stand 1 week.
On 8th day, take out pickles and rinse them and crock.
Pour 1 gallon water (boiling) and let stand 24 hours.
On ninth day, drain and wash.
Put back in crock, adding a lump of alum the size of walnut in boiling water.
On tenth day, make syrup.
