Strawberry Cake - cooking recipe

2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. milk
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
5 egg whites
1/2 c. fresh, mashed strawberries
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease and flour a 13 x 9 x 2-inch or two 8-inch pans.
Beat all ingredients except egg whites on low speed until blended (about 30 seconds).
Beat on high speed 2 minutes. Add egg whites and beat on high 2 minutes more.
Add fresh strawberries; mix well.
Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly in center.
