Smothered Chicken (Old-Fashioned Way) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large frying chicken (3 1/2 to 4 lb.)
    1 large white onion, sliced thin on the round
    1/4 c. water
    1 Tbsp. liquid browning sauce (Kitchen Bouquet)
    salt and pepper to taste *
    2 Tbsp. corn oil
Preparation
    *I like the lite Cajun seasonings instead of salt and pepper.
